Over 200 Migratory Birds for Sale in Bulacan Rescued from Wildlife Traders
Authorities rescued over 200 migratory birds from wildlife traders who allegedly sold them for a very cheap price in Baliwag, Bulacan.
The migratory birds rescued from criminal traders were considered endangered in other nations, according to a GMA News report. The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) organized a rescue mission for the migratory birds.

The recovered birds are reported to be worth P80,000, according to environmental authorities. They caught the birds that were tied up and being sold at a market in the province during the operation.
Three birds were being sold for P100 by the dealers who had eluded officials. According to the DENR, the birds are endangered in Hawaii, the Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam.
The occurrence was “isolated,” according to Don Guevara, public affairs chief of DENR Central Luzon, but he cautioned that anyone involved in the illegal wildlife trade would be held accountable under Republic Act 9147, or the Wildlife Resources and Conservation Protection Law.
Illegal migratory bird handling could potentially endanger public health, according to Guevara. He urged people not to approach the birds since they could be infected with a virus or have the avian flu.
Although the Philippines was declared free of bird flu in January, the government warned poultry farmers and other stakeholders to be on the lookout for any odd deaths. The PNP and the DENR announced that they would begin a manhunt to apprehend the illicit wildlife traders.
