Dogs Abandoned in Cebu City Pound Eat Dead Fellow Dog Due to Hunger

Animal organization air dismay to Cebu City pound after several dogs were abandoned where they were forced to eat fellow due to hunger.

On Facebook, a worried user named Clara Isabelle urged animal welfare organizations to intervene in the Cebu City city pound’s negligence. The dogs were apprehended as part of the Asturias municipal government’s ‘Asturias Dog Care and Anti-Rabies Ordinance’ campaign, which began on September 12th.

The campaign tries to prevent stray dogs from causing traffic accidents. As a result, a number of canines roaming the streets were apprehended and taken to the city pound.

Several confiscated canines, however, were ignored after the campaign and were left in a cage with other dogs with no food and proper care. The concerned netizen recorded a video of impounded dogs starving and consuming the carcasses of their kind’s dead inside the cage.

The video shows dogs hiding in secluded places, smelly cages, and no one to take care of them. You will also see those hungry dogs who have eaten carcasses and sticks. Aside from that, it can also be seen in the video that some dogs can hardly stand.

The video has gone viral on social media, causing outrage among online users. Animal abuse, according to netizens, should be prosecuted, and the city administration should be held accountable. The city has yet to issue a statement in response to the footage.
