UST Judo Legend Dither Tablan Passes Away at 23

DITHER TABLAN – The National kurash athlete and UAAP judo MVP Dither Tablan has already passed away at the age of 23.

The Twitter page โ€œThe Varsitarianโ€ announced that the UST judo legend has passed away on Friday (October 29, 2021). The two-time UAAP most valuable player and one of the most beloved Thomasian athlete dies of cardiac arrest.

The Philippine Sports Commission confirmed the announcement of University of Santo Tomas (UST) student publication โ€œThe Varsitarianโ€.

Dither Tablan

Dither Joshua Tablan was a graduate of Sports and Wellness Management course who manage to help UST Judoka win four UAAP titles in a row during his tenure with the team. He is also a Kurash grappler for the national team.

Aside from representing UST, the athlete also represented the flag and country in the 2017 AIMAG, the 2019 SEA Games, and the 2019 World Martial Arts Masterships. He earn his achievement because of his superior skills and heft.

Dither is one ofย UAAP’s top judokas in the heavyweight division and becomes the Most Valuable Player in judo.ย He considers his final season in the UAAP as his most memorable experience in his field of expertise.

“The most memorable moment sa UAAP, I would say, was the last season because first of all unang naglaro kami sa MOA Arena… Plus I left my final year as an athlete na champion pa,”ย Tablan said.
