Cop in Samar to Face Dismissal After Shooting a Gun While Arguing with Woman

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is now investigating and readies to file a charge against a cop in Eastern, Samar after shooting a gun amid a quarrel with a woman.

A police officer in Balanginga, Eastern Samar, is facing dismissal after reportedly firing his service weapon while fighting with a woman. Police Cpl. Alexander Salazar, posted to the Hernani Municipal Police Station in Eastern Samar, was identified by PNP Chief General Guillermo Eleazar.

According to Eleazar, the leadership of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 8 has already been instructed to conduct in-depth investigations into the suspected case of an illegal firearm discharge. According to Eleazar, the aforementioned police officer allegedly used a gun to terrify a citizen.

He went on to say that after the incident was reported to the authorities, the culprit was apprehended. Based on the report, Salazar had an altercation with his neighbor Abby Abrogar in Barangay 01, according to the original report at Camp Crame.

“Nakakulong na at iniimbestigahan ang isang pulis na naiulat na ginawang panakot ang kanyang baril sa isang sibilyan sa Eastern Samar,” the PNP chief said.

Salazar is accused of firing a gun, a 9mm service Beretta, after he could no longer take the heated confrontation with his female neighbor. Fortunately, no one was hurt or hit by a stray bullet in the incident, but the residents filed a police report.
