Mayoralty Bet from Maguindanao Arrested Over Posession of Illegal Drugs
Anti-narcotic operatives arrested another mayoralty bet for 2022 elections over possession of illegal drugs in Maguindanao.
According to the report, the mayoralty candidate in North Cotabato, Maguindanao was arrested on Thursday morning, October 21 on a search warrant issued by anti-narcotics agents, police, and the military. The suspect has been identified as Tom Nandang, also known as Datukon Nandang, 52, who is now staying in Barangay Upper Glad 1.

Nandang is a registered voter in Northern Kabuntalan, Maguindanao, and is running for mayor in that town in the 2022 elections, according to Lt. Col. Rolly Oranza, Midsayap town police chief. Nandang denied being involved in the illegal narcotics trade.
He was found with ten sachets of suspected shabu worth P5 million and a.45 caliber revolver, though. Nandang is being held by PDEA-12 on charges of breaching Republic Act 9165, often known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Meanwhile, officials in Mt. Province detained a mayoralty candidate after he was detected with P2.28 million worth of illicit plant or “Maryjane” prior to his detention. Marijuana bricks and leaves were seized from the custody of a 2022 election candidate.
Agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and officers of the Philippine National Police (PNP) recognized the suspect as a former cop who stood for mayor in Sabangan, Mountain Province, in the 2022 elections. According to the authorities, he has accomplices who were involved in the arrest in addition to himself.
