Fans are calling Angel Locsin “real-life Darna”
A-list actress Angel Locsin reacted to the tag “real-life Darna” which has been associated with her because she played the character in a TV series and she has been active in her charitable works.
Angel is receiving the admiration of many people for her efforts to help her fellow Filipino, especially during the time of calamities and the currently-occurring pandemic.
Because of that, people have been calling her the “real-life Darna”. Based on the article in Inquirer, the A-list actress has this reaction when asked about this. “To be honest, I’m not. I always feel awkward about it,” Angel Locsin said adding that she did not wake one day and just told herself that she will the Darna in real life.
She also said that she did not choose to be the Pinay superhero in reality but people just connected the character she portrayed and her charity because of what they have seen on TV.
Angel said that she feels so small compared to Darna and that they are two different personas. “I’m only human—I have my quirks and I make a lot of mistakes. I’m more of a Narda (the superhero’s alter ego) than Darna,” the A-list actress said.
Angel Locsin also agreed with the observation that there are not enough strong female characters that could be an inspiration to many people. She said that in reality, people are like this, finding someone that they can admire, someone who can save them. Angel said that this does not have to be just one person.
The actress also admitted that nowadays, male superheroes are still dominating. She envisions that she will get to have more opportunities to play female role models on screen. “They don’t have to be superheroes, I guess. A story of a female doctor, who went through all obstacles and emerged successful, can also be very inspiring,” Angel shared.
