Timothee Chalamet Teases Fans W/ First look of His New Film ‘Wonka’

TIMOTHEE CHALAMET – American actor Timothee Chalamet teased fans with the first look of his new film ‘Wonka.’ He will be playing the iconic character Willy Wonka.

British author Roald Dahl’s 1964 children’s novel titled ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ has been adapted in 2 major motion pictures: ‘Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory’ in 1971, and ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ in 2005.

The first one was starred by Gene Wilder while the second Wonka was starred by Johnny Depp. The Warner Brothers have been developing a new movie that will explore Willy Wonka’s character early days before the chocolate factory. This is the third time the studio has taken on the ‘Wonka’ story.

Timothée Chalamet was chosen to play the eccentric confectioner. Warner Brothers announced they will release the movie on March 17, 2023.

He is an American actor who broke out in 2017 after starring in two widely-acclaimed films “Call Me By Your Name” and “Lady Bird.” The 25-year-old actor earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his role in the coming-of-age romantic drama film “Call Me By Your Name.” He became the 3^rd youngest actor in history to be nominated for the prestigious award.

In a post on his Instagram account last October 10, Timothée Chalamet shared a first look photo of himself as Willy Wonka. He has 13.7 million followers on the said social media platform.

In the first photo, the Hollywood actor can be seen wearing a velvet raspberry topcoat and a brown top hat. He is also sporting a geometric patterned scarf. Representatives of the actor said he will be dancing and singing in the prequel movie.

On his second IG slide, Timothée Chalamet uploaded a photo of Willy Wonka’s walking cane. It is made of wood and brass with a top opening to reveal a purple box and red ribbon hidden inside it.

In the caption of the post, he wrote: “The suspense is terrible, I hope it will last … WONKA.”
