Couple Fears for Life After Being Lured into Car Theft Scheme by Own Relative
A married couple files a complaint against their own relative to the police after allegedly being lured to a “labas-casa” car theft scheme.
Helen and Hector, according to the couple, needed the money since their father had lung cancer and their child requires therapy. Then Hector’s cousin offered them P40,000 in exchange for assisting them in obtaining a car loan.

Hector consented to offer his paperwork and sign papers for the purchase of a sports utility vehicle because he was in severe need of money. Hector claims that he trusts the suspects since he was his genuine cousin and that he will not be duped.
For the signing of papers, Hector met with his cousin, who was joined by other people. He demanded additional paperwork and the check, but his cousin was unable to meet his requests.
Hector had no idea he had signed a deed of sale. According to the report, his personal documents and information were also submitted for the said car loan.
Hector did not see his cousin after getting the P40,000 payment. The couple then chose to confer with the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) about the situation.
Hector’s financial problems worsened as a result of his involvement in the auto theft plan, rather than being alleviated. Hector claimed that the car firm sends him payment reminders on a regular basis.
“Nagbigay sa akin ng stress, may tumatawag, nagre-remind regarding sa payment,” said Hector, adding that he never got to use the SUV.
Helen is also concerned that Hector’s cousin and his associates could be members of a syndicate. Helen expresses her displeasure with her husband’s cousin for enticing them into the plot and endangering their lives.
