Joshua Garcia will be working with Jane de Leon
Kapamilya actor Joshua Garcia became one of the trending topics on Twitter on Tuesday afternoon after it was revealed that he is the leading man of Jane de Leon in the Darna series.
Finally, this project is set to soar after several bumps that it has encountered. It was previously announced that the taping will start in November and this will be directed by award-winning Director Chito Rono. On October 5, ABS-CBN has officially announced the cast members of the much-awaited series.
Back in April this year, a hint surfaced about the involvement of Joshua Garcia in the said series about the iconic Pinay superhero. It was director Rahyan Carlos who sort of had a slip of the tongue when he shared that the actor asked for a one-on-one workshop with him because he is preparing for Darna project.
On Tuesday, it was finally confirmed that Joshua will play the male lead in the series, based on the Twitter post of ABS-CBN News. “Joshua Garcia is introduced as the “male lead” of the series. He will portray Brian Samonte Robles, a police officer,” the post stated. Because of this, he trended on Twitter.
It was also revealed that Zaijan Jaranilla will the role of Ding, Darna’s sidekick. Also included in the cast are Gerard Acao, Tart Carlos, Marvin Yap, Zeppie Borromeo, Yogo Singh, LA Santos, Young JV, Mark Manicad, Joj Agpangan, Levi Ignacio, Simon Ibarra, Richard Quan, Rio Locsin, and Kiko Estrada.
Mark Manicad will be the one who will play the character of Regina/Valentina’s “right hand”. However, the actress who will play the role of Darna’s nemesis was not yet revealed. Previously, it was revealed that Iza Calzado will play the first Darna who will pass the power to Jane de Leon.
