Meanwhile, the Department of Education addressed the issue and said the DOH did not accept “expired” medical supplies. Along with this, health undersecretary Rosario Vergeire noted how face shields aren’t dangerous if used after their expiration date.

Similarly, DIWA rep., Michael Aglipay also defended the face shields. The lawmaker asked the DOH “May nagkasakit po ba o namatay“? (referring to the “expired” face shields).

However, Surigao 2nd District Rep. Johnny Pimentel stressed that the issue wasn’t about the expiration date, but if the frontliners used them. Moreover, he added “We have already established that the face shields were utilized. Meaning, wala hong lugi“.

During the Senate’s probe into Pharmally’s deal with the government, high profile personalities were linked to the case. Among these were former presidential adviser, Michael Yang, and former aid to Senator Bong Go, Lincoln Ong.

But, both Ong and Yang could not make a personal appearance during the hearings due to health issues.
