Alleged San Juan City Jewelry Heist is Fake News, Incident was From Other Country

The San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora clarified the fake news that a jewelry heist occurred in his city and claimed the incident happened from another country.

Zamora refuted reports on social media that a jewelry store in the city had been broken into. The jewelry crime took place at Serramonte Mall in Daly City, California, and not at Greenhills, San Juan City, according to Zamora.

The event is currently being investigated by the police in order to hold those responsible accountable, according to the mayor. He emphasized that the city has been painted in a negative light and that the hard work of the local administration and police in keeping peace and order in the city under the health crisis has been overlooked.

“Should malicious intent be proven, we will prosecute those responsible to the full extent of the law, as this puts the City of San Juan in a bad light and disregards the hard work of the local government and the police in maintaining peace and order in the city amidst the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Zamora.

Zamore advises those behind the distribution of fake news to stop since it may generate fear and uncertainty among our citizens. Zamora further urged people to be agents of peace and kindness, assisting one another in recovering from the pandemic’s impacts and returning to the road of a peaceful and prosperous Makabagong San Juan.

“We ask those behind this fake news to refrain from further spreading false information that may cause fear and confusion in our citizenry. As we make our way out of these dark times, let us instead be agents of peace and goodwill, helping each other recover from the effects of this pandemic and return to the path of a peaceful and successful Makabagong San Juan,” he added.
