Online Seller Despises Lazada After Losing P150k on Buy-Return Scam
A disappointed online seller despises online shopping platform Lazada after losing P150,000 over alleged buy-return scam from customers.
Jefferson Sy, a Lazada merchant, resorted to social media to vent his frustrations with the online buying platform. He expressed his dissatisfaction with the fact that his buyers’ returned merchandise did not reach him.
He claims that instead of receiving the returned things, he sees them being offered on Facebook Marketplace at a reduced price. Sy claims that his business has been duped five times into the same trap of unexpected order cancellation.
According to him, a customer in Laguna would place an order, and he would deliver the thing. The customer, on the other hand, will abruptly cancel the order. Instead of the coveted computer accessories he had sent, he received a different thing when it was returned to him.

When he finally realized what was going on, he decided to keep several pieces of evidence in order to build a case against Lazada. However, each time he requested a refund, it was denied.
He shared that he sends a carefully packed shipment with security seals and a handwritten letter, but only receives a bubble-wrapped tub of lotion and soap during the return procedure. He has expressed his dissatisfaction to a supervisor and even sent an email to Lazada Philippines’s CEO, but to no avail.
“Sobrang conscious ko sa store rating at reputation ko para may confidence ang customers ko pag bumibili sila sakin. Para sa kaalaman ng lahat, hindi madali magkaroon ng 100% ratings sa lahat ng categories. Pero dahil sa mga ganitong modus, nasisira ang tiwala nila dahil sa kagagawan ng iba,” he wrote in his now-viral post.
He then discovered that someone in San Pedro, Laguna had received the item and was selling it on Facebook Marketplace for less than market value. Sy was certain it was his because the product’s serial number matched the one that had gone missing in the mail.
“Obviously, wala na ko maasahan sa Lazada so I’m posting this here in public. Para sa small time seller na gaya ko (I only do this part time), this amount is not pocket change! Alam naman natin lahat na we are all trying to get by this pandemic,” Sy wrote.
