According to the report, the suspect’s tactic was to demand money from the victims in exchange for their purported membership in the Philippine National Police or the Bureau of Fire and Protection. Bungcag is accused of extorting P15,000 and stealing the victim’s motorcycle.
Alexander Macapulay, Jr., a 32-year-old bribing candidate from Lazam, Cagayan who was temporarily living at a boarding house in Villa Street, Barangay District 1, Cauayan City, Isabela. The arrest of Bungcag began when the suspect’s claimed victims approached the police, according to P/Major Rey Sales HPG-Isabela.
Bungcag’s seductive words and promises to assist them enter the PNP in exchange for money lured the victims, they claimed. Bungcag was still in communication with the victim and his fellow applicant, he added, to request additional money.
As a result, CIDG Isabela, HPG Isabela, and the Cabagan Police Station began an entrapment operation in which Bungcag was unable to avoid arrest when she was lured in by the transaction. She also possessed Macapulay’s stolen motorcycle, according to officials.
The suspect is being held by the Isabela Criminal Investigative and Detention Group. According to the report, the fake police officer is facing various counts, including kidnapping and estafa.
