20 Guests of Birthday Party in a Resort in Davao City Arrested for Violating Protocols
Local authorities arrested twenty (20) guests of a birthday party allegedly held in a resort in Davao City despite strict health protocols.
About 20 attendees were spotted during a birthday party hosted at an inland resort in Barangay Catalunan Pequeño, this city, by police and local government officials. This comes following a random inspection of tourism facilities in the city by the tourist police unit, Baliok Police Station, and Davao City Tourism Operations Office.

Police say they were apprehended by visitors who were having a social gathering with other minors. Gatherings and tourism are still prohibited in Davao City, which is still under general community quarantine (GCQ) with heightened restrictions till the end of the month.
The gang also broke DTI memorandum circular number 21-28 series, which restricts social activities, and DTI guideline 21-16, which prohibits the use of swimming pools, according to police. The resort was discovered to be operating without a business permit, according to Generose Tecson, chief of the Davao City tourism bureau.
The guests and the resort owner have already been charged with breaching the Davao city code pertaining to Republic Act 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act, by the police and the LGU.
Meanwhile, the local government of Tondo, Manila were alarmed after a crowd of people rush at a famous food strip in the area despite strict health protocols. In the midst of the pandemic, video footage has surfaced of groups of Manileños congregating on the popular food stalls street in Tondo, ignoring social distancing rule.
People wearing face masks but no face protection are shown in the video clip, and physical distancing is clearly not observed properly. No one was penalized, but the violators’ names were listed and they were informed that if it happened again, they would face complaints.
