TYPHOON KIKO – According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), typhoon Kiko is losing strength as it continues to head over Batanes.

PAGASA reported that the typhoon was located over the coastal areas off Itbayat town. Furthermore, the state weather bureau said it was moving at a rate of 15 kilometers per hour.

Currently, Kiko has maximum sustained winds of 195 kph and a gustiness of up to 240 kph. Based on PAGASA’s 2 p.m., advisory this was slightly weaker than its earlier 11 a.m. report.

However, PAGASA said that the typhoon would continue to bring rains over Metro Manila and the rest of Ilocos. Moreover, western areas near Central Luzon and Southern Luzon may also see rains over the next 24 hours.

Scattered to widespread flooding (including flash floods) and rain-induced landslides are possible especially in areas that
are highly or very highly susceptible to these hazards as identified in hazard maps
“, said PAGASA.

Still, the weather bureau said that Kiko was projected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility either on Sunday evening or Monday morning.
