PNP to Deploy Police in Malls Amid Ber-Months vs Superspreader Events

PNP to Deploy Police in Malls to Prevent Superspreader Events This Ber-Months

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy policemen in malls and shopping hubs for ber-months to prevent the superspreader events.

In crowded venues like malls and shopping centers, PNP commander Gen. Guillermo Eleazar ensures that the minimal health criteria for COVID-19 would still be maintained. This is what Eleazar commanded, along with his instruction for all police officers to beef up their presence now that the usual “ber” months have begun.

“The PNP will still focus primarily on the implementation of public health safety protocols because amid the challenges we are facing, it is still important that every Filipino family is safe and together in their homes towards the celebration of Christmas,” said Gen. Eleazar.

The crime rate often rises during the ber months, which also signifies the start of the long vacation season, according to the PNP chief. Because these moments are not unusual, according to Eleazar, they are caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, and we should be extra cautious, especially if additional viral varieties are uncovered.

That is why, now that there is a pandemic, the PNP continues to urge the public to comply by following the guidelines when leaving the house. According to him, the PNP would remain vigilant in order to monitor the situation.

“Even though the situation during the ‘ber’ months this year is not the same as before due to the coronavirus pandemic, the PNP will remain alert to keep an eye on some criminals like snatchers who are out to take advantage of the situation and other stubborn people who are in markets like Divisoria and other places,” Eleazar added.
