Based on the report, the avenue was dark and silent when visited because all of the pubs and restaurants were closed. However, when police, including the SWAT squad, entered the target bar, they discovered that it was open and that there were many people inside.
Up to 52 people were arrested for breaking rules including physical distance and other health regulations. The bar is also in violation because dine-in is still illegal in Metro Manila, where curfews and alcohol consumption rules still apply.
The bar’s management declined to comment. However, they are likely to experience a variety of situations. Today, there are 2,253 active COVID-19 cases in Makati. The city authority is warning residents to not leave their homes unnecessarily.
Meanwhile, the local administration of Quezon City banned a KTV bar when it was discovered open during the city’s curfew. According to a report, the KTV bar does not have a mayor’s permit in addition to the quarantine violation. The management of the KTV bar has yet to issue a statement.
