“Let’s Audit Them Yo!” League Of Parents Rally Against COA “Bias”
LET’S AUDIT THEM YO! – Supporters of President Duterte and the League of Parents rallied in front of the Commission on Audit’s (COA) gate in Commonwealth, Quezon City.
According to the Philippine News Agency, around 30 people were there in protest of COA’s recent audit reports. Furthermore, they called out the agency to audit how groups such as Bayan Muna, Gabriela, ACT, and Kabataan party-list spend their funds.
Recently, the public, along with lawmakers, criticized the Duterte administration for its “Deficiencies” in the COA reports. This led to the President hitting back COA and asking them “Who Reports COA”.
Furthermore, during his latest public address, he said that if he won the Vice Presidency, he would personally be the one to audit all of the government.
But, prior to this, COA had already explained who exactly audit’s their agency. According to COA Commissioner Heidi Mendoza, there are strict resident auditors that are tasked to audit officials.
Meanwhile, supporters of Duterte took to social media and expressed that COA should not be biased in their auditing. “Maging patas kayo COA, tinatarget nio lng yong mga supporters ni Duterte” one netizens said.
However, the entirety of COA’s audit reports remains available to the public in just a few clicks through their official website. But as the COA issue continues, more and more departments under Duterte’s admin are being flagged for suspicious purchases and deficiencies.
