With No Other Options, Woman Gives Birth At MMDA Vaccination Site
WOMAN GIVES BIRTH AT VACCINATION SITE – After she was denied at a lying-in clinic, a woman was forced to give birth at a Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) vaccination site.
Amid the coronavirus pandemic, clinics and medical facilities are overwhelmed with COVID-19 patients. This causes some patients with non-COVID-19 related issues to sometimes be set aside.
According to an article from Inquirer, the woman was 26-year-old with the father of the baby working as a tricycle driver. Apparently, both were denied stay at a clinic near the Guadalupe Church.
Furthermore, they were forced to wait at a nearby Guadalupe Neuvo Barangay hall. However, due to the mother having labor pains, the father quickly sought help from the MMDA at around 5:27 p.m.
Without hesitation, the MMDA vaccination team set up a makeshift delivery table as they waited for an ambulance. Luckily, there wasn’t a hitch in the delivery and the woman gave birth to a healthy baby girl.
Moreover, the mother and the baby had no complications. Due to their quick initiative, MMDA Chairman Benhur Abalos lauded the team members who assisted the couple.
As per the article, he said:
In these trying times, we are very much grateful for all the work done by our frontliners and vaccination team. They don’t just vaccinate, but they are also ready and willing to help those who need immediate medical attention
