Netizens Criticized News Page Highlighting “Guwapo” on Murder Report

The online community slammed the news page on Facebook for highlighting “guwapo” (handsome) word on their report.

A news station called Superbalita Davao posted a story on Facebook about a suspect who surrendered after murdering a 19-year-old victim. An attractive man turned himself into the police after killing a 19-year-old handsome man, according to the report.

It was discovered that the suspect’s father was from Brgy. Alambre Toril in Davao City had reported his son to the authorities. The father admitted his son was guilty of the murder of the 19-year-old resident of DLF Urban Homes in Dumoy, Davao City.

The perpetrator and the victim were found together on the riverbank of San Vicente Ferer, Mulig, Toril, according to a police report. An altercation between the two is reported to have developed into a frenzy, during which the suspect stabbed the victim, killing it.

The victim had already been dead in the grass near San Vicente Ferrer when it was discovered. The case against the culprit has been prepared, and the victim’s body has already been placed.

While some netizens are saddened by the loss of the young man, others are outraged by the report. Aside from the fact that it was a murder case, people slammed Superbalita Davao’s reporting approach.

They stressed that if the murderer is attractive, they will emphasize it in their tales, but if the suspect is unattractive, they will just label him as a drug addict and a bad person. The story’s reporter was sought out by the online community.

The report on the page hasn’t been erased or changed yet. On the other hand, the Facebook page has yet to issue a statement clarifying its title.
