DBM To Release Funds To DOH Within 10 Days After Duterte Warning

DBM To Release SRA Funds To DOH Within 10 Days

DBM TO RELEASE DOH FUNDS – Following a warning from President Rodrigo Duterte, the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) said it can release health workers’ benefits in 10 days.

Recently, the Commission on Audit (COA) released a report highlighting deficiencies in the Department of Health’s (DOH) COVID-19 funds. Furthermore, health workers’ groups complained of not having received a single peso worth of benefits.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the government is supposed to provide frontliners with a special risk allowance (SRA). However, according to health secretary Francisco Duque III, private hospitals should be the ones to address the issue.

Meanwhile, after the warning from the President, DBM officer-in-charge Tina Canada said that the department could release Duterte’s ultimatum.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, Canada said:

Yung distribution n’yan DOH na ang bahala. Hopefully mabilis na ang pagdownload ng DOH sa kanya-kanyang ospital atsaka sa private hospitals

In response to the issue of DOH delaying the release of benefits for health workers, Canada explained that it may have lacked the time to distribute. Moreover, she said that the SRA for medical personnel might have been delayed as the DOH received funding from Bayanihan 2 on June 23.

Afterward, the law lapsed just a week later on June 30. “Kumbaga kinapos na siguro sa sobrang dami at laki ng pondo na ipamamahagi”, she added.

In lieu of the delays, health workers joined a “mass resignation” in protest. Furthermore, large medical groups said they would go on a “medical lockdown” if the SRA wouldn’t be received soon.

But, Canada cited that the SRA could be released within the 10 days Duterte gave the DBM. ” Hopefully, within the week, within the 10-day period mare-release ‘yun“, she said.
