45 Guests Arrested after Attending Birthday Party Violating ECQ Health Protocols in Pasig City
Local authorities of Pasig City arrested forty-five (45) guests who attended the birthday party held despite prohibition amid enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) status.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has condemned a birthday celebration held at Royana Events Place along Axis Road in Barangay Kalawaan on Facebook. The mayor has ordered the event site to be closed due to alleged health quarantine violations.
“Ang titigas ng ulo,” Sotto stressed on Facebook.
After receiving a tip from a concerned citizen that individuals were hosting a party at the institution, Pasig police commander Col. Roman Arugay said his officers and barangay peacekeeping security officials headed to the location of the event about midnight.
Vicente Ang, 59, the establishment’s owner’s father, Ronald Ang, and caretakers Mariano Soriao and Russel Neverio were among those apprehended, according to Arugay. According to the police, some of the offenders were minors.
The violators were taken to a secure court to be documented. Citation tickets were issued to the adults who attended the party for breaking the curfew and social distance rules.
They were sent to a hospital and antigen testing was performed to see if they were infected with COVID-19. Additional charges are being prepared against Ang, his son, and their caregivers for violating Republic Act 11332, or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
