PDEA Arrest 2 British Nationals Due to Illegal Plant During Buy-Bust in Cebu

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) operatives arrested two (2) British nationals after being caught with an illegal plant called “Maryjane” in Cebu.

The two British nationals were apprehended in two different anti-illegal drug operations, according to the newspaper. An online English teacher and 24-year-old Daniel James Gadsden were arrested in a buy-bust operation in Barangay Mabolo, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Central Visayas (PDEA Region 7).

Nearly five grams of dried “Maryjane” leaves packaged in a black waste bag were confiscated from Gadsden, according to PDEA 7 information officer Leia Alcantara. According to Alcantara, the suspect was able to sell a kilogram of Maryjane in less than a week and stayed in the nation for almost a year.

PDEA 7 arrived in Moalboal, Cebu, after 7:00 p.m. on the same day to arrest Gadsden’s alleged illegal plant supplier. Authorities were on the lookout for a man named “Kap,” but they came across another British national suspected of being the target’s illegal plant buyer.

Anthony Risely, 54, was apprehended and was in possession of two sachets of dried marijuana leaves valued at P500. Anti-narcotics agents have taken custody of the two foreign people.

Meanwhile, four people from Ilocos Sur were apprehended at a checkpoint in Bauko, Mountain Province, when they were discovered in possession of an illegal plant worth P2.6 million. After receiving information that two motorbikes with marijuana bricks will pass through a checkpoint, the suspects were apprehended by PDEA.

The accused were found with 18 blocks of dried Maryajne leaves and nine pieces of tubular dried marijuana, totaling 21,697 kilograms and valued at P2,603,640. The defendants will be charged with breaking the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act, specifically with illicit drug transportation.
