Banks Implement Shortened Banking Hours Due to Metro Manila Lockdown

Several banks across the National Capital Region announced the shortened banking hours amid the implementation of ECQ in Metro Manila.

The national government has declared enhanced community quarantine in National Capital Region from August 6 to 20, 2021. Aside from the Manila, the provinces of Laguna and Cagayan de Oro as well as Iloilo City have been placed under ECQ.

The towns of Cavite, Lucena City, Rizal and Iloilo Province have been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine during the lockdown period. Batangas and Quezon were under GCQ with heightened restrictions.


Gingoog municipality is under GCQ with heightened restrictions starting from August 8 until 15, 2021. The banks across the National Capital Region have announced changes in their operating hours.

BDO Unibank announced on their Facebook page that the operating schedule will be shortened up to 3:00 pm starting from August 6-20, 2021. The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) and BPI Family Savings Bank branches would also imposed the same changes.

BPI said that all branches will be available from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm while branches in Iloilo would operate from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.  Metro Bank imposes 9:00 am to 3:00 pm business hours from August 2 to 20.


Security Bank announced that branches under ECQ areas are open from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm while MECQ are open 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Branches in GCQ areas will operate until 4:00 pm.

China Bank branches in ECQ areas are open until 2:00 pm while MECQ areas will be available until 3:00 pm only. The Development Bank of the Philippines would open up to 2:00 pm.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) announced that they coordinating with banks nationwide to ensure the continuous service amid lockdown.

“BSP reminds banks to adopt necessary protocols against the transmission of the COVID-19 virus. This is in line with efforts to maintain banking industry operations despite alternative work arrangements and heightened restrictions imposed in Metro Manila and other localities during this period,” BSP said.
