Megastar Sharon Cuneta was asked if she will join her husband Senator Kiko Pangilinan in the world of politics.

Sharon has been in the entertainment industry for several decades now and her generosity and readiness to help others is known to many people in and outside of showbiz.

However, her name is also being attached to the political arena. To recall her father Pablo Cuneta served as Mayor of Pasay City for several terms. She is also married to a man that has been a public servant even before they got married.

Based on the article on The Philippine Star, during the recent virtual press conference for her upcoming movie Revirginized with Marco Gumabao, Sharon Cuneta clarified that she has no plan of running for any government position. This is what she stressed despite the fact that politics is in her blood.

The singer-actress also said that she will use her own platform to help other people. “Sana marami pa kong projects, para marami pa kong magawa. Hindi naman kailangang tumakbo ko, wala akong balak tumakbo ha,” the Megastar said.

She also believes that she can reach a large number of people that would need help through her platform. Sharon Cuneta also defended celebrities who are getting bashed for speaking their minds when it comes to matters of politics in the Philippines.

“Marami kami mga artista na nila-lang lang ng marami pero hindi nila alam na kami ‘yung lumalabas at marami kaming blessings. Marami rin na hindi artista na nakakaangat sa iba na tumutulong din,” she said. The Megastar pointed out that many celebrities are not just talking about their efforts to help but they are also finding ways to improve the situation of the country.

Sharon Cuneta also stressed that there is no perfect administration but she is praying that every administration would think for the welfare of the country for the betterment of the Filipinos.

“And we’re able to do that with education or at least ‘yung mga vocational schools kasi a skill is something you can learn on. You don’t need to have a college degree, pagkakakitaan mo eh. Kung meron lang sana makakapagbigay ng trabaho,” the Megastar added.
