Mark Bautista talks about his journey after revealing his true self
It was in February 2018 when Mark announced that he is a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, based on the article in The Philippine Star. His revelation became the talk of the town when he published a book Beyond The Mark.

“And my wish (was) sana marami siyang ma-inspire… and may makukuha silang learnings. And I was just, OK, nandito lang ako, enjoy ko life, I’ll choose to be some kind of private with my personal life after that. But now, I’m learning may mga discussions na kailangan. Sometimes, nakakalimutan ko na ang role ko sa community,” the 37-year-old celebrity said.
However, he shared that he realized that his role does not end when he wrote his book. In terms of awareness, Mark Bautista said that he needs to participate, as well as because he saw that there are still a lot of people who need help and there’s still hatred and unacceptance.
“And I think a lot of people are still out there alone, living in fear and still being threatened by life and, you know, nahirapan pa din,” the singer-actor added.
Being part of Spotify’s Pride Hub, Mark said that he is honored as he felt that sense of belonging that he can call this group his family. The feeling that he has the responsibility of representing the community also gives him empowerment.
