Foreign Preacher Arrested for Holding Religious Gatherings Amid ECQ in CDO
Local authorities arrested a foreign national preacher after he was caught still holding religious gatherings despite ECQ quarantine status.
A pastor who was identified as a Nigerian national was apprehended in Cagayan de Oro as he allegedly still holds religious gatherings inside his church despite the prevailing enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the said area. Police named the violator David Babatunde Hassam, 53, currently residing in Brgy. Bugo.
Hassam was caught at his church, Deliverance Power Center Ministries Inc., in Bugo, by members of City Police Station 6. According to the report, a neighbor had previously reported Hassam preaching to followers within the church, in violation of the city’s ECQ.

Cagayan de Oro was placed under the most stringent quarantine status, ECQ, in mid-July after reports of cases of the highly transmissible Delta version of the virus that causes COVID-19 were discovered in the city. Hassam was arrested and taken to Police Station 6 for questioning.
Hassam will be charged with violating Republic Act 11332, also known as the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Public Health Concerns Act. The city police director, Col. Aaron Mandia, said local law enforcement is vigorously implementing the ECQ and urged citizens to follow the Inter-Agency Task Force on the Management of Infectious Diseases’ health procedures and standards.
Meanwhile, a Nigerian national was arrested in Dagupan City, Pangasinan for a horrible crime against a tricycle driver. Based on the previous article, the Nigerian national went berserk and allegedly attacked him with a stick with a nail.
For some serious reasons, the two have had a heated dispute, which resulted in the Nigerian murdering the tricycle driver, who allegedly just asked him where to go. After being arrested, the foreign national still runs amok and hurt people go close to him.
