Pres. Duterte Approves Disbursement of Financial Assistance in Metro Manila

DUTERTE – President Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the disbursement of funds for financial assistance to Metro Manila residents amid the ECQ.

The Philippines is one of the nations preparing for the possibilities that the Delta variant of COVID-19 may bring. Local transmissions were detected in the country and it caused alarm considering how it affected other nations.

In India where it was first recorded, the Delta variant caused a spike in the coronavirus cases to the point of hospitals reaching their full capacities. Many people passed away in India due to COVID-19.

Other countries that also recorded Delta cases include Indonesia, Thailand, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sri Lanka, Malaysia, and Bangladesh. Many countries now implement travel bans on travelers from countries with high Delta cases in the pursuit to stop the spread of the disease.

PH is one of the countries that implement travel restrictions for several weeks now. Also, Metro Manila is set to be under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) for two weeks.

Metro Manila will be under the strictest quarantine measure from August 6 to August 20. While non-essential purposes are not allowed, public transportation will remain and those who are set for a vaccine appointment will be allowed to leave their houses and receive their jab.

Many people are worried about their food and other needs amid the ECQ. Truth be told that a lot of Filipinos depend on their daily salary to provide for the family’s needs. To help the people who will greatly be affected by the ECQ, Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte approved the financial assistance for the residents of Metro Manila.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, 80% of Metro Manila residents will benefit from the financial assistance approved by Pres. Duterte. The said cash aid will benefit 10.8 million people in NCR. The funds will be directed by the national government to the local government units.

It is eyed that the 2-week ECQ may bring a huge damage to the economy of the country. As for experts, it is best to use the time to speed up the vaccination process. Hospitals were already asked by the LGUs to prepare for a possible surge in the cases following the detection of local transmissions of the variant of concern.
