METRO MANILA STRICTER PROTOCOL – Mayors from Metro Manila call for stricter implementation of COVID-19 protocols due to local transmissions of the Delta Variant.

Metro Mayors Call For Stricter Protocol, New Quarantine Classification

Because of this, Mayors from the Metro banded together and urged for stricter implementations of COVID-19 health measures. During an interveiw with ABS-CBN, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Benhur Abalos said:

Right now, it’s very fluid. Later probably (spokesman) Harry (Roque) will tell you about the new quarantine classification of Metro Manila. Just wait for the classification for Metro Manila it will be announced by Sec. Harry. Our recommendation is of course, for stricter protocols right now

Currently, there are 47 cases of Delta Variant infections in the Philippines. But, of that number, 23 are considered as local transmissions. Meanwhile, eight are still tagged as active cases.

Additionally, Abalos emphasized that:

If there are clustering, granular lockdown should be held in place. Immediate isolation. No home quarantine. Most of us don’t want to go to the quarantine centers. Most of them just want to stay at home but Delta is very infectious. It should never be allowed
