Empoy Marquez said this about his “Niña Niño”leading lady
Comedian Empoy Marquez said that he is trying to avoid this to happen with actress-dancer Maja Salvador who is his leading lady in the series “Niña Niño” on TV5.
Empoy earns the tag “the new pogi” because of his leading man roles. The success of his movie Kita Kita with Alessandra De Rossi brought him to higher places in the entertainment industry.
Now, he is also playing another leading man role and it is in the Kapatid series with Maja. Based on the article in Inquirer Entertainment, Empoy Marquez quipped about the thing he does not want to happen with his leading lady. “What I’m trying to avoid is accidentally making her fall in love with me,” he said in jest.
Talking about working with the actress-dancer who established Crown Artist Management, Empoy said that there was no major adjustment. It is because it is not his first time working with Maja.
“I guess it also helped that we have good writers (John Bedia and Lawrence Nicodemus) who made all our scenes together fun and our lines catchy. Our sequences were always light. The only thing I’m concerned about is that she might fall for me in real life,” he added.
In the interview for the inspirational series, Empoy was also asked about the most unforgettable memories he has on the set. “Actually, we have a lot, both on- and off-cam. I treasure all these memories. Ours is a happy set, even though it’s always so hot and humid in Sta. Ines (their fictional village that is actually located in Dolores, Quezon). But if there’s one thing that I will never, ever forget it’s when I arrived on the set one day and discovered that I was all alone,” he answered.
It was because their taping was rescheduled and he was not able to read the message about this on their group chat. Meanwhile, Empoy Marquez is thankful that the writers of the series are making adjustments for his character Gardo so that it will not affect the flow of the story as he is also committed to doing a film with Alessandra and their shooting location is in Paris, France.
“I really appreciate them. I hope to still keep working with the team until Season Three or Season Four,” the comedian said.
