Train Passengers Trapped Following Massive Flooding In China

TRAIN PASSENGERS TRAPPED – A major flooding in China caused hundreds of train passengers to get stuck.

Due to heavy rainfall that was reportedly eight times higher than the monthly average, the city of Zhengzhou, China got hit hard by a flood. This caused over 100,000 residents to evacuate.

However, those who were riding a train were shocked after a rush of flood-water surrounded the locomotive. Due to the water level outside the train to be higher, operators could not open the doors.

If they were to do so, flood water would come rushing in the train filling it from the inside. Here is a video uploaded to social media site, Reddit:

In the video, you could see people hanging on heavily at the rails as water continued to slowly rise up. The man taking the video can be heard saying “call my aunt, call the police, the water has reached my shoulder“. Meanwhile, for some passengers, the water-level has already reached their necks.

Luckily, a report from SCMP said rescuers managed to get the passengers out by drilling a hole on top of the train. Furthermore, all the passengers survived based on reports.

But, authorities did confirm 12 deaths due to the flooding that swept across the province of Henan. Currently, rescuers are still trying to find missing people as the flooding left cities in ruins.
