Homicide Complaint Filed Against the Suspect of PMMA Cadet Death
A homicide complaint has been filed against the suspect for the death of a Philippine Merchant Marine Academy (PMMA) cadet.
Cadet Third Class Jomel Gloria has been charged with homicide, according to PMMA Superintendent Chuck dela Cruz’s chief of staff. Dela Cruz stated that they were informed that Gloria had previously been charged with homicide by the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor.
Gloria is still in police custody, he added. Cadet Fourth Class Jonas Bondoc, the victim, was discovered lifeless inside the PMMA barracks comfort room earlier this week.

Gloria allegedly coordinated with the academy and made an extrajudicial confession that he “unintentionally” punched Bondoc twice in the chest, according to Dela Cruz. Bondoc collapsed and was taken to the hospital.
Gloria’s confession, according to Dela Cruz, was consistent with witness testimony and the report from the Scene of the Crime Operatives. Gloria’s motivation or goal, on the other hand, will be explored. According to Dela Cruz, the suspect has already been withdrawn from the academy as a cadet.
There is also no documented confrontation between Bondoc and Gloria, according to the official. He said the two were buddies based on his own knowledge.
Concerned officers have filed a courtesy resignation in response to the incident in order to secure an unbiased inquiry and command responsibility. Dela Cruz stated that the academy’s investigation and the Prosecutor’s probe had already ruled out hazing in the incident.
