Counterfeit Cigarettes Sales Agent Arrested by Police in an Entrapment Operation
Authorities arrested an alleged sales agent in an entrapment operation for selling counterfeit cigarettes in Villaluz, Delfin Albano, Isabela.
Jerry Mamauag, a 33-year-old married agent from Santa, Tumauini, Isabela, is the suspect. According to Delfin Albano Police Station Chief PMaj. Richard Limbo, their station got a complaint regarding the return of cigarettes purchased in a store owing to bad taste.
As a result, members of the Delfin Albano Police Station immediately conducted monitoring and communication with the cigarette agent after the store owner approached their station, based on the report of Bombo Radyo Cauayan.
Because of the cigarettes’ uniform label and serial number, they were able to determine that it is counterfeit after speaking with the corporation that supplies cigarettes in the said province. They were also revealed to be fraudulent because the suspect was not furnished with any necessary documentation.
According to the article, seven reams and 20 packs of various brands of cigarettes valued at more than 9,000 pesos, receipts, P1,608 cash, and a motorcycle was discovered in the suspect’s possession. Because the suspect’s operation is modest and young, they believe there is no huge counterfeit cigarette factory in the province.
