China, Russia Unite, Says Countries Will Have “Strategic Cooperation”
CHINA, RUSSIA UNITE – Both Beijing and Moscow are seemingly on the same page when it comes to Biden and the United States.
Recently, the countries announced a massage saying they would have “strategic cooperation” in a “turbulent world”. However, this phrase may be directed toward the U.S. and its allies.
Despite talk of an anti-US axis, the two countries held a virtual summit with both leaders, Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin present. They denied accusations of seeking a Cold War-style political attack.
However, they emphasized that their relationship was “mature, stable, and solid”. Furthermore, they considered themselves as “priority partners”. According to an article from ABS-CBN, the joint statement read:
Some countries use ideology to draw lines, brutally interfere in the internal affairs of sovereign countries, impose unilateral sanctions at every turn, shake the legal foundation of the international relations system, including the arms control field…
The more turbulent the world, the more it is necessary for China and Russia to strengthen strategic cooperation
In the light of this adversity, it said, “defending the shared interests on international stage” and ‘continuing to exercise true multilateralism’ to maintain the equilibrium of international power to reinforce coordination and cooperation in politics, security, military, economics, energy and technology.
Meanwhile, according to Zhang Xin, associate professor of international relations at East China Normal University:
China and Russia may also boost the joint development of hi-tech weapons, in a bid to counterbalance the US. In addition, there will be joint military drills, especially long-range naval or air force exercises and patrols, during which they may enter the space where they rarely have showed up in the past
