DepEd Office in Cebu City After Receiving Bomb Threat Text Message
The police are now after the person behind the bomb threat text message that alarmed the Department of Education (DepEd) Cebu City office.
Dr. Rhea Mar Angtud, the city’s school division superintendent, got the threat message from an unknown sender. However, because Angtud was on leave, Bernadette Susvilla, the division’s officer-in-charge, claims she promptly relayed the message to them so they could seek police assistance.

Personnel from the Bureau of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (BEOD) searched the DepEd office but were unable to find any bombs in the building on Imus Road in Barangay Day-as, Cebu City. The DepEd office was “cleared” about 11 a.m., or nearly three hours after the search began.
According to Lt. Franklin Rosario, commander of the Cebu City Police Office’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit, the sender of the SMS was someone who was dissatisfied with the non-distribution of financial allowance. Susvilla, on the other hand, stated that the allegations of DepEd allowance delays were false.
She stated that the allowances for the month of May had already been released and that the allowances for June were still being processed. Susvilla said she will conduct a review of their health and safety standards following the bomb scare on Monday.
According to Police Lieutenant Colonel Wilbert Parilla, deputy director for operations of the Cebu City Police Office, a bomb scare is punishable by law (CCPO). The DepEd Cebu City office has previously received a bomb threat via text message for the third time this year. The first message was received on February 20th, and the second on March 4th.
