Drug War Effective No Matter The President Says Año

Año Says Drug War To Remain Effective Despite New Leaders

WAR ON DRUGS – According to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, President Rodrigo Duterte’s Drug War will be effective no matter who takes his post.

The war on drugs has been shrouded in controversy ever since it began in 2016. However, the Interior Secretary says that as long as the new leaders continued the current strategy it will remain effective.

Año made the statement after he was asked if Duterte’s war on drugs would lose its momentum the moment the President steps down from office. Previously, Duterte can be recalled saying that him running for Vice President could still be a “good idea”.

Duterte stated that he had not fulfilled his promises which include the eradication of illegal drug trade and corruption. Meanwhile, during an interview with ABS-CBN, Año stated:

Doon sa issue ng vice president, hindi ako pwede magcomment dyan. Depende ‘yan sa ating Pangulo. But I believe na-institutionalized naman natin ang ating mga kampanya laban sa droga tulad ng pagkakaroon ng ICAD

Additionally, Año said that he thinks Duterte had a 9/10 rating on his performance in the Philippines’ war against illegal drugs. Furthermore, he believes that the campaign led to the identification of those in high politics that are involved in it.
