NCR Plus May Revert Back To GCQ On June 15 Says Palace
NCR PLUS GCQ – According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, provinces within the NCR Plus bubble could revert back to a GCQ next week with lightened restrictions.
Roque said that COVID-19 restrictions had lessened the spread of the virus within the NCR Plus bubble. As such, he cited “low” hospital care utilization rates following the initial lockdowns from March.
Based on an article from Inquirer, the spokesperson said:
For Metro Manila, the numbers are looking good. The hospital care utilization remains very low, we’re at 53 percent in ICU beds which is isa sa mga importanteng factor for escalation
Furthermore, he said that based on the data, Metro Manila Plus might revert not to a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) but an ordinary GCQ with less strict protocols. Currently, Metro Manila and four neighboring provinces, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, and Laguna remain under a GCQ until June 15.
Prior to this, the NCR Plus bubble was placed under a GCQ with “heightened restrictions”. But, as COVD-19 rates gradually go down, the government is thinking of slowly reopening the economy, especially with unemployment rates at an all-time-high.
