The victim was reportedly in shallow water when she screamed due to a jellyfish adhering to her calf and foot, which is thought to be a variety of box jellyfish. People worked together to free the victim from the attached jellyfish.
However, the victim passed out and did not make it to the hospital alive. Her uncle and cousin were also stung by the jellyfish but managed to escape, based on the report.
Even though there was still a pandemic, the victim’s father, who was at work at the time of the event, asked why the resort was open and allowed to accept children. The resort owner is said to have spoken with the victim’s family and offered to help.
The resort’s owner revealed that they used to set up a net to keep the jellyfish out, but that it was damaged by typhoon “Dante” and is still being rebuilt. The resort will be temporarily closed, according to them.
