Rabiya Mateo Admits Being Tagged ‘Mistress’ Is Most Painful Bashing

Rabiya Mateo breaks her silence on the “kabit” issue

Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo admitted that being tagged “mistress” is the most painful bashing that she received.

From the time she won the national pageant, the beauty queen from Iloilo City already had her fair share of negative comments. She was accused of cheating during the competition and worked with the MUP organization to control the result of the pageant.

Amid that bashing against her, Rabiya maintained her composure and chose not to be silent on the issue. “I don’t want to add fuel to the fire. I tried to be as quiet as I can. I tried to continue the journey even though inside I was falling apart,” she said during a recent interview, based on the article in Bandera.

However, she said that there was an issue that was thrown against her that really affected her. She was accused of being a mistress and allegedly this is the reason why she won the pageant.

Rabiya Mateo strongly denied this accusation against her. “There was this issue, a comment, saying that I was a mistress. Parang ‘yun ‘yung pinakamasakit doon. Because I was raised by a single mother and lahat-lahat ng pinagdaanan ko, pinaghirapan ko ‘yon. And I have my moral values with me,” she shared.

The Ilongga beauty queen added that she and her mother talked about this. She told her mom that she knows the real story and that she will never do that. Rabiya said that even though they are struggling financially in life, they will never to that kind of thing.

Despite that controversial tag against her, Rabiya Mateo saw the silver lining. “‘Yun din ‘yung isa sa mga reason kung bakit ako nakilala ng tao. That’s why they want to know my story, because of issues like that,” the Miss Universe Philippines said.
