Nothing Wrong With Duterte Push For VP In 2022 Says Lambino
DUTERTE PUSH FOR VP – According to PDP-Laban Vice President Raul Lambino, there was nothing wrong with pushing Duterte to run for Vice President in 2022.
Despite critics from opposing parties, Lambino emphasized that there was nothing unconstitutional or illegal with pushing Duterte to run for VP. Lambino said that there was widespread talk for a continuity of Duterte’s programs.
During an interview with ANC’s Headstart, Lambino said:
I don’t see any constitutional or legal violation for a president running for another position…The prohibition is for President Duterte to run for President again in 2022, that is unconstitutional
Furthermore, he said that the PDP-laban wants to support a government that could continue Duterte’s “kind of government”. Additionally, he cited instances of former presidents who also ran for vice presidency such as Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
Last week, Duterte’s spokesperson Harry Roque cited that the president would leave it to God whether he should seek higher office again in 2022.
“I have seen how the President worked, I also have observed how Mayor Inday Sara works as mayor of Davao City. If ever Mayor Inday Sara will decide to run for president and President Digong will run for vice president, I will personally campaign hard for both Duterte-Duterte in 2022“, said Lambino.
