Rice For Vaccination Offered In Muntinlupa Barangay
RICE FOR VACCINATION – Amid the coronavirus pandemic, countries look to vaccines for hopes of faster normalcy. However, a large percentage of Filipinos still opt not to get vaccinated.
As such, the government had to think of ways to further promote their vaccination programs. Currently, the government is conducting information drives, ads, or billboards to push the vaccination plan.
Meanwhile, a barangay in Muntinlupa offered something different – rice. According to an article from ABS-CBN, Barangay Head of Sucat, Muntinlupa, Raffy Sevilla said that vaccinated individuals have a chance to win a “weekly raffle” with the prize being rice.
Umisip kami ng paraan o gimmick para ma hit namin yung kanilang attention so naisip namin yung konsepto ng pa raffle ng bigas. Lahat ng na-vaccinate automatic meron siyang raffle ticket for the week and this coming Sunday ang first online raffle namin sa Facebook
However, the village chief noted that it was difficult finding residents to vaccinate despite the availability of vaccines. Furthermore, he emphasized that according to their data, only those in subdivisions go to the vaccination sites. But, the indigent population still would rather not get vaccinated at all.
To address this, Sevilla said they would giving away 25 kilos of rice to 20 lucky individuals during a weekly raffle for those who were vaccinated. Moreover, he cited that all vaccinated individuals in the barangay, whether they had a first or second dose is eligible.
