Retired Cop Accused of Extortion from Truck Drivers in Laguna Arrested

RETIRED COP EXTORTION – Authorities arrested former police in Laguna for allegedly extorting money from truck drivers.

A former cop was arrested on suspicion of extorting money from truck drivers travelling through Laguna. Following a complaint from a truck driver who was the victim, an entrapment operation was carried out against the suspect alias Mariano.

The driver claimed the suspect sought P40,000 per week from truck operators who pass through Laguna, according to Police Brig. Gen. Thomas Frias Jr., director of the PNP-Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group. They can easily pass through any PNP checkpoints in Laguna in exchange for this payola.

During the entrapment operation, the truck driver met at a gas station in Laguna to pay the suspect the initial P5,000. The individual was detained right away after the monetary exchange tested positive.

While the robbery extortion case is being prepared, the suspect is currently in the custody of the PNP-IMEG Luzon field unit office. Meanwhile, IMEG asks the public to report any unusual police behavior right away.
