Dingdong Dantes shared his thought on the success of Korean dramas
Kapuso Primetime King Dingdong Dantes thought that Filipinos can learn something from the success of Korean dramas.
Dingdong has done several TV series already. he even did a remake of the K-drama Descendants of the Sun in which he played the male lead character. The award-winning actor, however, said that he does not see the dramas produced by Korean as competitors.
He said this during a recent interview in Howie Severino’s podcast, based on the article in gmanetwork.com. “Parang I’d rather see them as an inspiration because we really have to learn from best practices of people or performers around us,” Dingdong said.
The actor added that since K-dramas are very successful, it can mean one thing, they are maybe doing the right thing. Dingdong Dantes stressed that Filipinos should know the reason why K-dramas are successful.
“Hindi naman dahil sa gusto natin gayahin frame by frame, pero ano ba ‘yung practices, ano ba ‘yung culture, ano ba ‘yung processes, bakit nagiging very. very successful and outcome nila at ‘yung kanilang output? And definitely, we can learn something from them,” the actor-director said.
He also stressed that K-dramas are very curated and visually appealing. “Malamang sinasadya talaga nila ‘yun at bakit? Because probably they have the resources to do so, they probably invest in equipment that can produce ‘yung ganu’ng klaseng itsura, and maybe they have a goal of really beautifying talaga ‘yung kanilang mga kuwento, ‘yung mga programa. And that’s clear. That’s clear,” Dingdong added.
The actor-director also pointed out the importance of the support that the entertainment industry must receive from the government. He shared that he has colleagues who would ask why Koreans can do what they are showcasing to the whole world now.
Some of his friends would point out the big support that the Korean production teams are getting from their government. That is why the budget in the production was out of their concern and they really spend their resources in producing a project.
