54 Guests Who Attended Pool Party in QC Test Positive with COVID-19
A total of 54 guests were tested positive with coronavirus disease (COVID-19) after allegedly attending a pool party in Quezon City (QC).
A pool party and drinking session in Quezon City’s Barangay Nagkaisang Nayon resulted in 54 people testing positive for COVID-19. The 54 COVID-19 positives were among the 610 attendees who were subjected to RT-PCR swab tests after the event.
According to video footage posted by the Quezon City local government, participants were seen standing near each other without face masks or face shields. It’s been dubbed a “superspreader” event by LGU.
Mayor Joy Belmonte of Quezon City has ordered an investigation into the incident. Those found in violation of the rules and ordinances will be given violation tickets and could face charges, according to her.
“Lahat ng mga mapapatunayang lumabag sa ating guidelines at mga ordinansa lalo na ‘yung mga nagkukumpulan at nag-iinuman o nagka-karaoke ay iisyuhan ng ordinance violation receipt (OVR) at maaaring makasuhan sa ilalim ng RA 11332,” she said.
Under the general population quarantine, massive social events are also prohibited, according to Belmonte. Meanwhile, the barangay officials in charge of the pool party have yet to issue a response.
