Kidnapped Chinese Carries Bed Headboard As He Escaped While Being Handcuffed
Authorities rescued a Chinese national who was handcuffed in a headboard of a bed after he allegedly escaped from being kidnapped.
Three Chinese nationals allegedly kidnapped by the syndicate were rescued in different parts of Metro Manila, according to a GMA News article. One of the victims managed to flee while holding the handcuffed section of the bed.
When a guard saw a Chinese man walking near the foot of a condominium building in Malate, Manila, he was first rescued. In the headboard of the bed he was holding, the Chinese was handcuffed.
The guard immediately contacted the police, who sent the Manila Police District Station 5 and SWAT team. In the condominium house, the Chinese national pointed to another of his colleagues’ prisoner.
His hand was also handcuffed and secured to the bed’s headboard. Handcuffs were also placed around the legs of another survivor. The international victims were discovered with cuts and bruises on their bodies, arms, and legs. They did not speak Filipino or English.
When three Filipino guards were apprehended in the parking lot of the condominium unit where the victims were staying, police were about to leave. The suspects sang at a different safe house in Paraaque, where they saw another Chinese national handcuffed to a bed, his eyes black and his hands and feet wounded.
Two more Filipinos were apprehended for singing and pointing to another of their employer’s safe houses in Las Pias. Four more Filipinos were apprehended on their way to Las Pias, but the suspected Chinese chief, who is now wanted, fled.
The syndicate behind the abductions of Chinese workers in Metro Manila is their target, according to the MPD’s initial investigation. The suspects will be charged with kidnapping for ransom, unlawful detention, and illegal firearm possession.
