Jake Zyrus Air Dismay to People Comparing Him to His Old Identity
Singer Jake Zyrus airs dismay and slammed the people who keep comparing him to his old self which is his lady version, Charice Pempengco.
Jake Zyrus is a Filipino singer who is transgender. She used to be known as Charice Pempengco, a female singer who rose to fame after appearances on Glee and Oprah Winfrey’s show.
On June 2, 2013, Jake came out as a lesbian in front of the world, shocking many people. He also had international singing stints as Charice in Asia and the United States. Charice, on the other hand, changed his name to Jake Zyrus after revealing his sexual orientation.
Despite this, his devoted fans continue to support his music, which is vastly different from what he used to do as Charice. However, he continues to be mocked and insulted.

On Instagram, the singer expresses his dissatisfaction with internet users who constantly compare him to Charice Pempengco. Jake blasts those who can’t tolerate him in a lengthy statement, saying that they skipped Charice.
He vented his anger after reading the articles comparing him to Jake. Charice was even chastised a few times for being mocked in posts implying that she was better than Jake.
He slams people who are pointing out Charice’s voice in his song in his Instagram account, clarifying that he is still Charice who has just switched to a new version. People saying that his old self is resurfacing prompted him to respond, he added.
“Sabi ko ‘wag na patulan mga ganung tao kasi nagiging feeling na, pero hindi kasi bastos na talaga ang iba. Okay ako kung i-compliment mong naririnig mo kasi totoo naman ‘yon. Pero para ipangalandakan mo na ‘Charice is coming back’, and also binabastos na ang pagkatao ko nang dahil lang doon, get yo MF transphobia ass away from me,” he said.
Jake said that he was just used with interviews in which he was asked if he missed old Charice. “I’d just awkwardly smile and take it just because I wanted to please these MFs. Nakakalito na nga interviews ko para kahit papano ‘di masyado problematic at medyo pasok pa rin sa ‘nyetang standards ng karamihan.”
“I am not MF okay with this. Kasi the more na sinasabi kong ‘Ah, oo, okay lang ‘yun,’ okay lang na nagkakamali silang tinatawag akong Charice or okay lang na tanggap nila ako as Jake pero mas gusto nila ako pre-transitioned, the more na nagiging kampante ang ignoranteng palaka na bastusin kung ano ang naging desisyon ko sa buhay ko,” he added.
