Doc Willie Ong is now known as ‘Doktor ng Bayan’ because of his mission
A famous doctor and now a YouTuber, Doc Willie Ong, shared this inspiring story of how he is fulfilling his chosen mission.
In a recent episode of GMA’s Tunay Na Buhay, the Doktor ng Masa revealed that he has long been offering his service without getting paid.
He was able to bring this mission in a wider scope through his YouTube channel that now has 5 million subscribers while his Facebook Page caters to 15 million followers.
Through his vlogs, he is offering free medical counsel about certain health issues. Based on the article in gmanetwork.com, Doc Willie Ong has no private patients for a long time now.
“Hindi ito alam ng karamihan, pero since mga 14 years ago, 2007, hindi na kami nag-cha-charge ng professional fee sa mga pasyente,” he revealed.
It has been his aim since he was younger to help many people. He recalled that when he was 17 years old, they had a time capsule during their high school days.
He wrote in the paper, “Gusto kong tumulong sa libu-libong tao.” When their teacher told them to pass their papers, he changed a word. Doc Willie put an arrow pointing to the word “millions”.
Doc Willie Ong also revealed that before becoming a successful medical practitioner, he had to overcome a hurdle since it is not the desired profession of his parents for him.
“Actually, siyempre ‘pag bata ka, ayaw nila. Mas gusto nila sa business, ‘di ba? Kasi may negosyo na kami, tuloy-tuloy. Mabilis kumita sa negosyo, papalakihin, anak kang lalaki,” he shared.
However, the Doktor ng Bayan adhered to his goal and he was able to finish Cardiology, Public Health, and Internal Medicine.
