Parlade Responds To Critics, Says Senators Stupid If Intelligence Defunded
PARLADE RESPONDS TO SENATORS – Lieutenant General Antonio Parlade Jr said senators are stupid if they want to defund the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-Elcac).
Recently, Parlade had yet again faced massive criticism from both the public and Senators following his statements against Ana Patricia Non, the initiator of community pantries. During an interview with One News, Parlade likened AP Non to “Satan” saying:
“Isang tao lang ‘yan diba? Isang tao lang is Ana. Same with Satan, binigyan ng apple si Eve. Doon lang nagsimula ‘yon“
As a response to Parlade’s statements, Senators pushed to defund the NTF-ELCAC and move the budget to help with the government’s pandemic response.
“Oh my! We should move to defund NTF-ELCAC in the next budget. Sayang lang pera ng taong bayan…
Reallocate the current P19B budget for ayuda. Mas kailangan ito ng taumbayan kaysa sa mga ganitong kalokohan“
Furthermore, Senator Richard Gordon said:
Why are they focusing on the people who are helping others and displaying the nation’s wonderful bayanihan spirit? I think it’s imbecilic. I think it’s stupid and shameful
But, Parlade defended his actions saying that he was merely doing his job of ensuring the background of organizers due to receiving reports that some spread antigovernmental propaganda.
Moreover, he said that it wasn’t fair to say that the NTF-Elcac is stupid as they were “trained to make sure” programs such as the “community pantries” were safe. Additionally, he noted that the budget was also used for developmental projects for areas “Freed” of NPAs.
“I’m telling you they are the ones who are stupid if they want to take back the funds…
They (Senators) signed off on that law to be of service, continue government programs for the poor, and then they’ll defund it?“
