Study Shows Physical Inactivity Causes Significantly Higher Risk OF COVID-19 Infection

PHYSICAL INACTIVITY CAUSES HIGHER RISK OF INFECTIONS – A recent study revealed that being physically active can help reduce risks of COVID-19 infections.

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, we all need to keep our immune systems up and running. As such, the best way to this is to eat healthy and to keep our body active through regular exercises.

Additionally, a study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine suggested that 14.4% of COVID-19 positive patients out of 48,440 were consistently inactive for the last two years prior to testing positive for the virus. Meanwhile, 79.1% had some activity, and 4.6% consistently met their recommended physical activity guidelines.

But, compared to those who are consistently active, the people who were physically inactive were twice as susceptible to infections. Furthermore, inactive patients had worst outcomes than COVID-19 positive patients that were.

According to Dr. Robert Sallis of the Kaiser Permanente Fontano Medical Center:

“It is well known that immune function improves with regular physical activity, and those who are regularly active have a lower incidence, intensity of symptoms and death from viral infections“.
