Police Shot Man Over An Air-Freshener Violation (VIDEO)
AIR-FRESHENER VIOLATION – A police officer shot a man saying he mistook his gun for a taser.
In Brooklyn, officers pulled over a young 20-year old man due to what his family says was an “Air-Freshener” violation. During an interview, his mother said:
“My son was 20 years old. He was pulled over for having air-freshener for the car that I just gave him. All he did was have air-freshener and they (police) told him to get out of the car”.
In the body cam footage released by the Minnesota police during the press conference, you could see several officers asking the man to get out of the vehicle. Afterward, he was handcuffed.
But, before doing so, the man tried to escape from the police and re-entered his vehicle. However, one of the officers quickly pulled a gun out and shot him. Due to his gun-shot wound, the man crashed his car and died on the road.
But, his family said that he was dead on the ground and nobody picked up his body for over 8 hours. Afterward, when the family talked to the police, they simply said they were “investigating” the incident.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn Police Chief Tim Gannon said his officers simply “mistook” his gun for a taser. During a press-conference, he emphasized that one of the officers shouted “taser! taser!” several times.
However, he mentioned that “during this encounter, the officer pulled out a handgun instead of a taser”. Afterward, he stated that officers were trained with their handguns on their dominant sides and tasers on their weak sides.
“As I watched the video and listened to his commands, it is my belief that the officer had the intention to deploy their taser but instead shot Mr. Wright with a single bullet.
